BACK TO THE FUTURE
Aka: Projects in 2026

In 2026, jD is going to spend less time on movies, TV and comic book projects and more on Humorous-Philosophy, Aka Stand-Up Comedy

                                - jD'S PHILOSOPHY/STAND-UP HEDULE COMING SOON -

“Yo Sólo Quirero Irme A Francia” (“I Just Want TO Go To France”)

A theatre play directed by Elisabeth Larena, and written by Elisabeth Larena & jD Shapiro.  It premiered in Asturias, Spain October 2025.

Due to the reception, it is now running through December 2026 in many of the most prestigious and important theaters throughout Spain (Think Broadway).

This is the first long form play either of them have ever written (jD wrote a one-act in university). This is the first long form anything Elisabeth has ever written (Elisabeth wrote two short movies, her second being an award-winning documentary, “Actores” which she also starred in and directed).

To say Elisabeth & jD came out of the gate like the great horse Secretariat would be incorrect. (That is because Secretariat, a Triple Crown winner, was known for never coming out of the gate fast. What would be correct is to say Elisabeth and jD came out of the gate like Secretariat  did at the Belmont Stakes. Which he won by an astonishing 31 lengths. The largest margin of victory in the history of that race).

Elisabeth was asked to direct the play, which was not her original intention (She was going to play the part of Leo.  She is an actress known for her roles in, “Tell me how it happened', 'La que se avecina,” “No matarás,” “Cuéntame,” etc.). Elisabeth decide to do both would take away from the play, and went with directing it.

Due to the script and Elisabeth directing (no other attachments), the play got the financing, a fantastic crew and stellar cast. The cast consists of two newcomers, Alicia Armenteros and Anna Mayo. The other two actresses are well known, respected and beloved. Nieve de Medina, and the lead of the play, María Galiana, who won The Goya Award (Think Oscar).

Movie producers are circling the play to turn it into a movie. Elisabeth would write the script, and if she so desires, direct the movie (She might hand that over and play the part of Leo).

The play is about four women from four different generations who come together under unusual circumstances and learn about each other, themselves and secrets three of them never knew even existed. They are pushed to look at and understand each other, and even hard, look into a mirror and see who they really are. All of them are broken, the past influencing their present and future, none of them have been able to move on in life…as well as in death. By the end of the play they’re all able to move on and live a life, even in death.

Hard to tell from the poster but there’s a lot of humor in it. Some might even call this play a comedy.

The play is dedicated to to Elisabeth’s  grandmother, Inés and her mother, Edurne. Two beloved, and beautiful women and souls, who are no longer with us in this dimension. But will always be with us in our hearts and in their journey in the there, here and now.

This clip from the end of the play is, what seems to be, the typical reaction to the play:

"Under Pressure"

If time permits jD will direct a script he wrote called, "Under Pressure." It's a coming of age comedy about a high school boy trying to get laid.  This might sound like a "tried & true" story but-

A twist,.

He can get laid. His girlfriend goes to him and tells him she is ready and wants to. But he makes a big, huge, massive mistake (probably not what you're thinking) and pissing off his girlfriend who changes her mind. But-

-he still can get laid from now many of the girls who want to with him because he got "The Nod" from his girlfriend. But-

-he wants his first to be the girl he loves. So, like Henry V, he battles to win her back.

This type of comedy that hasn't been made in a long time. "Risky Business," "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," "Sixteen Candles" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," were all in the early/mid 80's. "Dazed and Confused, and "American Pie" was 1999. "Mean Girls" was 2004.

OVER 20 YEARS since a great teen comedy has been released. Not only is it about time, not only is it something people want- it's something people need. To laugh without fear of being talked down too or being told what is right or wrong. Being in the moment, enjoying it and talking about it once done, that's what we all need. Laugher. And yes, romance. But-

-there is another twist:

It's a musical.

Another Project:

We cannot talk about this project jD is presently doing due to a NDA. (Hint: As you know, jD was legendary comic book creator Stan Lee's creative partner so...)
