THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE 2022

in

THE GILDED BALLOON

The world premier of I’M with STUPID was at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 3 August to 29 August 2022 in The Gilded Balloon.

jD will be taking that show, and a new stand up show he’s presently writing, on tour (Due to his movie and TV projects, we don’t know his schedule yet. As soon as we do we will let you know).

IwS is storytelling with humor. The show highlights segments of jD’s life. From growing up poor in North NJ & Hell’s Kitchen, NYC to driving a junker car to Hollywood with no money, no contacts and not much support. But a belief he could and would make his dreams become realities.

The core of his story is about LIVING IN THE MOMENT and ENJOYING THE JOURNEY. Not just the destination (Something he actually learned a lot more about while he was writing IwS).

“The destination is a short moment in life. The Journey last a lifetime…and beyond.”

                        - jD Shapiro

IwS also encourages people to go after their dreams. “If a knuckled like me, with the many things I had going against me the moment I was born and and still do, could achieve some success some of the times, anyone can go after your dreams and succeed. (However, if your dreams are to be like Adolf Hitler & Donald Trump I do encourage you to kill yourself).” (while this is funny I highly recommend recommend NOT saying kill yourself with all the mental health problems going on today)

Above all else IwS is empowering and very entertaining. At least that is what we have been told :)

Here are some of the articles & reviews about IwS and jD (Of course jD got some bad reviews! But we ain’t putting them here. If you’d like, you can google “IwS sucked” or “jD Shapiro sucked”).

SOME OF THE MANY WONDERFUL THINGS THAT CAME FROM DOING THE FESTIVAL

Hello. This is jD. Many, many great things and even some magical things came from doing the festival. Among them are:

Having people enjoy my stories, be inspired & laugh.

My new found love of a place I’d never been: Edinburgh, Scotland. Fantastic architecture, Indian food, fish & chips, and the people; the glorious people Edinburgh, as well as those from many other areas of Scotland, Ireland, England, India, Australia, and The USA.

I’d also like to thank the majority of the staff at The Gilded Balloon. You were AMAZING! I’d argue you were all overworked and underpaid. From the box office staff, to those who ran the door of my show, to those who worked for the food vendors inside and outside of The Gilded Ballon to to The Gilded Balloon’s press people you all are are wonderful! And in spite of having way to much put on your plates and being overworked & underpaid you handled it with true professionalism, grace and always, always a smile. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for all you did for me and how great you always made me feel. You fill my heart with joy.

During my journey the greatest gift I got was new friendships. Ones I hope last a lifetime…and beyond. Some of those new friends (cause I know I’m gonna leave some out by mistake) are:

TALK ABOUT SHOWS I SAW THAT I RECOMMEND OTHERS TO SEE
