jD Shaprio is a writer and stand-up comedian whose eclectic career blends sharp wit, playful creativity, and a self-described "goofy, geeky charm."

Despite working in Hollywood, jD still manages to create genuine art.
"I'm a recovering idealist who has yet to recover and never will." - jD
jD writes movies—and some TV—and some comic books for both Hollywood and independent productions.
He has directed several independent films.
He also performs stand-up comedy—a path he never intended to take but stumbled into. Like writing and directing, it became both a passion and a calling. (“Damn it!” – jD)
To date, jD's films have grossed over $3 billion worldwide.
This includes spec scripts he has sold, as well as projects he was hired to write, rewrite, or polish—and films for which he served as a creative consultant.
In 2007, legendary Mitzi Shore made jD a Paid Regular at The Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip (more about this in the stand-up section).
He has received many prestigious awards for his writing and directing—including a few he cannot mention due to NDAs for films he consulted on.
jD was creative partners with comic book legend Stan Lee from 20002 to 2016.
jD's stand-up and storytelling are compelling and layered, often drawing from real events in his life. He explores the absurdity of life with humor and philosophical insight. For example:
jD's first movie, Robin Hood: Men In Tights" is more than just a popcorn film if you look beneath the surface. It was directed by the legendary Mel Brooks.
